Things to remember before updating Lenovo Vibe P1 to Android Marshmallow
Lenovo Vibe P1 has started getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update in India. Its a pretty substantial update at 1676 GB and should be downloaded over WiFi. There's a lot of new things coming with Android Marshmallow for the Vibe P1 including improvements in fingerprint unlocking, better battery life and general performance improvements.
Lenovo has already rolled out Marshmallow for the K3 Note and A7000 in India with the Vibe S1 slated to get the update soon. The Vibe P1 was launched with Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with a metal unibody build, fingerprint sensor and a 1080p display.
There are two things to remember before updating the Lenovo Vibe P1 to Android Marshmallow:
- If you have chosen to use the external SD card as the default storage device, after the update you may not be able to use the data and apps moved to the SD card. So, you should backup the data first.
- You are also probably using a fingerprint to lock your device, then after the update that is not going to work. Therefore, after the update you should add a fingerprint again.
The reasons for the changes is how Marshmallow handles SD cards as well as fingerprint sensors. There is native support for fingerprint sensor on Android Marshmallow on the Vibe P1 and you may be able to use the SD card as internal storage.
