Alcatel Idol 4 with VR support, 5.2-inch 1080p display launched in India for Rs. 16999
Alcatel has just launched it's Idol 4 smartphone in India. Introduced back at MWC 2016, the Idol 4 packs a 5.2-inch 1080p display and runs on the octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, which is also found on the Moto G4 Plus. There are a couple of neat features of the smartphone including VR support and that you get a VR headset within the box of the device.
The Idol 4 has a separate multi-function button called the Boom button which can be customized to do different tasks including controlling your camera, videos, music playback and more. You also get dual stereo speakers on the device, and you can place it either way, front or back, and the audio won't get muffled. There's a free JBL headset within the box for wired listening.

Talking about hardware, the Idol 4 is a dual-SIM smartphone with 4G support and it has a hybrid SIM card slot, so either two SIM cards can be used or storage can be expanded. There's 3GB RAM here and 16 GB internal storage. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and there is no word on a Nougat update as yet. Packing the imaging department is a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus capable of recording 1080p videos and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. There's a front-facing flash as well.
Other connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio, NFC and USB OTG support. All this runs on a 2610 mAh battery which all supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. The build of the smartphone is primarily glass and metal which does make it look very premium. It is quite thin at just 7.1mm as well. There is no fingerprint sensor on the device though.

The Idol 4 will be available from Flipkart starting today at 2 PM priced at Rs. 16999. You can choose from gold, dark gray and metal silver color options.
